Catherine has particular expertise in public law Children Act cases and is instructed on behalf of local authorities, parents and guardians. She is experienced in representing the interests of the most vulnerable people in society, including those with learning difficulties and the mentally incapacitated. She has also acted in cases involving Fictitious Illness Syndrome.
Many of Catherine’s cases are brought before the High Court and concern serious and sensitive issues. Regular instructions include allegations of serious neglect of babies and young people, non-accidental injury and physical chastisement. She is also instructed in adoption proceedings.
She has also acted in cases involving international child abduction.
Catherine is experienced in all aspects of private law Children Act proceedings including applications for leave to remove from the jurisdiction.
In ancillary relief, Catherine assists clients in proceedings involving property interests in the UK and abroad, pension sharing and attachment, enforcement, co-habitation (including same sex couples), freezing orders and TOLATA applications.
