Emmaleen maleen has a varied practice, a mix of civil and family law. Her civil work includes contractual disputes, landlord and tenant, housing law, personal injury and credit hire cases. As part of her civil practice Emmaleen accepts instructions to provide written advices and opinions.

Emmaleen’s family practice includes private children work, ancillary relief, TOLATA and family injunctions. She has a particular interest in ancillary relief proceedings and cases with a foreign element. She has experience with working on cases that involve companies and multiple properties.  Her children caseload has included acting for parents in applications for removal from the jurisdiction.

Emmaleen has also recently had conduct of two high profile cases, the first being a contact application of a father with a conviction of manslaughter and the second being ancillary relief proceedings concerning a convicted murderer.

Emmaleen is a qualified family mediator who currently co-works regularly with the South Essex Mediation service. This enables her to also accept instructions for private mediation work.

Emmaleen is currently studying to sit the New York Bar exam in July 2011.  This course has given her an understanding of eighteen separate areas of law in the jurisdiction as well as how the federal and state law interlinks, as well as how it interlinks with cases in England and Wales.
 

Interests

In her spare time Emmaleen enjoys dance, cookery, art and the cinema. Emmaleen is also currently learning Portuguese.
