PRACTICE AREAS: · FAMILY FAMILY I have acted for a number of local authorities and for parents in care proceedings. I have recently acted as counsel for a local authority in private law proceedings relating to a child whose mother was implacably hostile towards contact with the father. I applied for an interim care order within those proceedings following the making of a section 37 direction. I have also represented local authorities in applications for emergency protection orders and initial interim care orders. Children Private I have acted for applicants and respondents in applications for special guardianship, contact and residence orders. Advisory work I have provided written advice on behalf of the local authority setting out their obligations to a child remanded by a youth court to secure accommodation. I also advise on appeals for the purposes of funding from the Legal Services Commission. Injunctions I have represented a respondent following their arrest for breach of an injunction. I have obtained ex parte injunctions under the Family Law Act 1996 and Protection from Harassment Act 1997 Financial relief I have acted for publicly funded and private clients in ancillary relief proceedings. I have also acted in proceedings for financial relief under Schedule 1 Children Act 1989. CIVIL I regularly am instructed in the following areas: CRIMINAL I have prosecuted and defended numerous cases in the Magistrates’ Courts and appeared in the Crown Court for the prosecution, defence and to assert public interest immunity on behalf of local authorities.
