Specialist criminal advocate with vast experience in all areas of crime, in particular, serious acts of violence, armed robbery and other firearms offences, sexual offences involving adults and children, large scale drugs trafficking through Gatwick and Heathrow and fraud. Employed as a solicitor in the former department of the Director of Public Prosecutions (1972 – 1976) dealing in heavy crime including murder, serious sexual offences, corruption, Official Secrets Act offences and complaints against police.

Fraud

• Led in substantial cross-firing cheque fraud at the Old Bailey.

• Represented client in DTI prosecution case concerning director disqualification and insolvency offences. Vast amount of prosecution material. Heard at Northampton Crown Court.

• Instructed for the defence in substantial DTI company fraud case at Leicester Crown with a time estimate of 2 weeks.

Sexual Offences

• Represented client charged with 32 counts of rape, attempted rape and indecent assault of young girls including own daughter. Listed at Northampton Crown Court.

• Acted for the defendant originally charged with 23 counts of buggery and indecent assault in respect of his step-son and his daughter. 19 count indictment eventually put before jury at Northampton Crown Court.

• Acted on behalf of a male youth accused initially of buggery and indecently assaulting young boys. Listed at Northampton Crown Court.

• Represented client charged with rape. Trial lasted 4 days at Northampton Crown Court with the client acquitted.

• Represented client charged with raping his daughter. Listed for trial at Northampton Crown Court. Client acquitted.

Other cases of note include:

• Led by Nigel Rumfitt QC in leading drugs manslaughter case of Dias at Northampton Crown Court.

• Instructed in 11 handed conspiracy to supply heroin involving large scale police operation in Cambridgeshire. Listed for 8 weeks at Kings Lynn Crown Court.

• Led in high profile public hygiene case in the Administrative Court re powers of a local authority to institute criminal proceedings in its own name. Instructed by East Northants District Council.

• Led in other cases of homicide in respect of murder and manslaughter (including child cruelty).
