Area of practice: Crime

Specialist Criminal advocate with substantial experience of serious crime including murder and manslaughter, sexual offences involving children and adults, armed robbery, drug related offences and fraud.

Serious Violence

• Led by Stephen Coward QC in 3 week multi-handed murder trial at Birmingham Crown. Extremely complex issues regarding cause of death, head injury and brain pathology. Huge media and public interest followed case as the deceased was the father of a sports celebrity. Instructed by Carter Slater.

• Led by Anthony Palmer QC in multi-handed murder and manslaughter. Case involved medical issues and causation. Listed at Chelmsford Crown Court with a time estimate of 2 weeks. Instructed by Pictons.

• Prosecuted multi-handed car-jacking case involving hand gun. Listed at Northampton Crown Court with time estimate of 5 days.

• Instructed as single junior counsel in significant conspiracy to supply class B drugs involving 15 defendants. Issues involve cross border police operations including covert surveillance and sophisticated hydroponics operations. Voluminous documentation exceeding 10,000 pages. Case assigned to the Very High Costs Cases unit. Time estimate for trial 5-6 months. Instructed by Franklins.

Sexual Crime

• Led by Joan Butler QC in 2 week serious sexual offences trial. Charges of rape and buggery on young boys committed over a period of several years. Trial lasted 2 weeks at Luton Crown Court. Instructed by Park Woodfine.

• Represented defendant charged with historical indecent assault and gross indecency on 3 child complainants. Trial heard at Northampton Crown Court lasting 5 days. Instructed by Franklins.

• Sexual assaults on children. Proceedings complicated by fact defendant was deaf. Interpreter required throughout duration of trial. Trial heard at Northampton Crown Court. Client acquitted. Instructed by Franklins.

• Represented RAF officer on charge of rape in 2 handed trial. Acquitted following 5 day trial. Instructed by Park Woodfine.

Other Experience

• Instructed in large drugs trafficking case resulting in guilty plea followed by lengthy confiscation hearing at a time when the legislation was newly introduced. Northampton Crown Court case. Instructed by Pictons.

• Defended in Trading Standards fraud involving car-clocking on large scale. Case listed at Northampton Crown Court lasting one week. Unusually large volume of documentation. Instructed by Park Woodfine.

Appeals

• Has appeared in the Court of Appeal on many occasions, both conviction and sentence and by way of Attorney General’s Reference.

• Has appeared before the Divisional Court by way of Case Stated.

Area of practice - Family & Matrimonial Law

Mr Yeung has been practising in Family Law since being called to the bar in 1989 and has substantial experience in both public and private law Children Act proceedings and ancillary relief.

Ancillary Relief:

Mr Yeung has experience in all areas of ancillary relief including TLATA, the recovery and preservation of assets, pension attachment and sharing orders, freezing orders and enforcement issues.

Public and Private Law:

Mr Yeung has considerable experience in public and private law matters, particularly on behalf of parents. He has acted in numerous residence and contact cases over many years, including cases involving allegations of physical, emotional and sexual abuse and in Finding of Fact hearings.

Area of Practice - Commercial Litigation & Personal injury

Areas of practice include:

• Personal injury, fatal accidents, industrial accidents and disease litigation

• Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 matters

• Building disputes

• Contract (including sales of goods and commercial litigation)

Cases of interest:

Currently instructed in a total tetraplega case, involving an Italian National, who sustained his injuries in the UK but returned to live in Italy. Liability has been established but quantum remains outstanding, and is likely to exceed £3M. Led by Nigel Baker QC.
