Civil Litigation and ADR:
Our philosophy is simple: we are here to help

Members of the civil team provide advice and representation in general civil and commercial litigation. We focus upon providing pragmatic advice that is focused upon resolving disputes, reaching settlement and achieving the best results for our clients whether that is in the courtroom, in mediation, arbitration or through negotiation. We understand the pressures upon litigants and businesses in particular. Members focus upon the need to find workable, practical and commercially driven solutions to commercial problems.

Members of the Team offer particular expertise in the following areas:

• arbitration & mediation
• freezing & search orders
• sale of goods / supply of services
• company law
• professional negligence
• international trade
• banking & finance
• consumer law
• fraud
• mortgages
• debt recovery
• product liability
• insurance law
• construction
• VAT Law
• tax
• wills, probate & administration of estates

The work undertaken by the Team embraces a wide range of non-contentious and contentious work from the lengthy complex actions in the Commercial Court and the Chancery Division through to Small Claims trials upon which our pupils and junior tenants cut their teeth. Members of the Team regularly appear in the High Court and in County Courts throughout London, the South East and the Midlands. Several members are accredited mediators and some are members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Where necessary we can assemble teams of counsel to work on cases drawing together various specialisms to support our instructing clients. Chambers is alert to the importance of ADR within the modern dispute resolution process and members have wide experience appearing in mediations, adjudications and arbitrations.

Contact our Senior Clerk, Russell Burton, or Civil Clerk, Scott Savage, to book Counsel and for any advice as to the most suitably experienced barrister for a particular set of instructions. Our philosophy is simple: we are here to help.

Clarendon Chambers is committed to providing our instructing solicitors and lay clients with a highly dependable service, including skilled and robust advocacy and proficient clerking. Ongoing training and development programs for our barristers and our clerks are in place to ensure standards are maintained to the highest level. In support of our commitment to our clients, Chambers continues to develop our quality standards and holds the Legal Services Commission’s Quality Mark for the Bar, an essential long-term accreditation for any Chambers undertaking publicly funded work. In addition, we hold the Investor in People standard.

Chambers operates an out of hours service on 07971 285796 on which our Senior Clerk can be contacted in the event that it becomes necessary to make urgent applications for injunctions or freezing orders. Members of the Team are able to deal with applications to the duty Judge where necessary.
