The Family Team consists of 23 barristers specialising in all aspects of family law and related matters. Members of the Team appear throughout London, the South East and on the Midland Circuit where we have an annexe in Northampton.
Members of the Family Team provide expert knowledge of all aspects of ancillary relief which comprises a substantial amount of Chambers’ Family law practice. Members of the Team represent clients in high value, multi asset and international cases and advise on all aspects of recovery and preservation of assets and pension orders. Additionally, we advise and represent clients in respect of divorce, enforcement of orders, insolvency, inheritance, Married Woman’s Property Act and on applications under the Child Support Act 1996 and the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.
The Family Team has particular expertise in proceedings under the Children Act both in public law and in private law and under the Human Rights Act 1998; acting for parents, guardians and local authorities and including cases involving serious allegations of sexual and physical abuse and mental health issues. Members of the Team also provide extensive experience in representing clients under the Family Law Acts of 1986 and 1996. Some members also have expertise in child abduction both in respect of Convention and non Convention countries.
Contact our Senior Clerk, Russell Burton, or Family Team Clerk, Scott Savage, to book Counsel and for any advice as to the most suitably experienced barrister for a particular set of instructions. Barrister profiles are available by selecting from the list provided, which are also in PDF format. Profiles can be sent out by post or DX if preferred.
Members of the Family Team hold regular meetings to discuss issues and cases of importance and collectively produce Family Review, a periodical newsletter solely for the benefit of clients. Each edition of Family Review is available on this website at the Publications page in pdf format. If you are not on our mailing list and would like to receive future editions, please contact the Senior Clerk. The Publications page will also provide a platform from which our clients can access updated family related news bulletins.
