Members of Clarendon Chambers’ Public Law Team have experience in a wide range of public law work. The team is driven by a fundamental commitment to human rights, social justice and equality. We receive instructions from a diverse range of clients including local authorities, charities, law centres, NGOs and solicitors. The team has a firm commitment to representing the interests of the vulnerable and disadvantaged and giving a voice to those who are often unable to represent themselves for a multitude of reasons. Pro bono work is also undertaken by individual members in a range of areas. Members of the Team offer expertise in the following main areas; Housing Law:- including homelessness, housing benefit and entitlement, allocations, right to buy and disrepair, harassment (civil & criminal), anti social behaviour orders. Immigration & Asylum: - including statutory appeals and judicial review, asylum and human rights claims, Article 8, claims involving third countries, entry clearance, business visas, deportation and bail applications. Prison Law: - parole board hearings, adjudications, judicial review, and civil actions against the prison service. Much of this work is done in conjunction with our criminal practice team. Inquests: - several members have experience representing interested parties at inquests. Civil Liberties: - we draw upon members’ broader experience in criminal, civil, housing, personal injury, employment and family law to provide clients with pragmatic advice, assistance and representation in a wide variety of cases relating to abuses of civil liberties. Members of the Team regularly appear in the Administrative Court. Contact our Senior Clerk, Russell Burton, or Civil Clerk, Scott Savage, to book Counsel and for any advice as to the most suitably experienced barrister for a particular set of instructions.
